Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
Hockerill proudly hosts a thriving Combined Cadet Force (CCF), with around 70 cadets participating in both the Army and RAF sections. As one of the largest and most active clubs at the College, the CCF provides students with a dynamic environment to develop essential skills in leadership, discipline, and outdoor activities.
Through a wide range of experiences—including fieldcraft, weapon training, Air Experience Flying (AEF), map reading, first aid, and ceremonial duties—cadets build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. The program is led by experienced staff, including a team member with over 30 years of distinguished military service, ensuring a high level of expertise and guidance.
The CCF’s emphasis on practical experience aligns perfectly with the values of the MYP and IB Programmes, fostering attributes such as risk-taking, reflection, and balanced personal growth. This combination equips students with the skills needed to tackle both academic and real-world challenges.
Additionally, the CCF complements the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and integrates seamlessly with the Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) component of the IB Diploma Programme, further enriching students’ educational experiences.
Being part of the CCF encourages strong relationships, camaraderie, and team spirit among cadets. The program is inclusive and welcomes all students, regardless of ability. This focus on teamwork and mutual support creates an environment where all participants can thrive, learn from one another, and grow together.
