At Hockerill our Equipes are at the heart of our vibrant school community. Each student is placed into one of four Equipes, fostering a sense of belonging and identity while promoting teamwork, collaboration, and healthy competition.
These names were chosen to celebrate individuals who exemplify leadership, inclusivity, and perserverance, serving as an inspiration for our students to become compassionate, principled global citizens who strive to make a meaningful difference in the world.
The ultimate goal of the Equipe system is the prestigious Vine Cup, named in honour of its founder, Edward Vine. This annual championship celebrates the dedication and achievements of every student throughout the year. The Equipe with the highest points at the end of the academic year is crowned the Vine Cup champion. Each Equipe is guided by a pair of Sixth Form leaders—a Head and Deputy Head of Equipe—who mentor and inspire their teams.
Points are earned in a wide range of activities including sports competitions, academic quizzes, performing arts, songwriting, photography, design challenges, and commendations for individual achievements, ensuring every student can contribute.
