Sport
At Hockerill we place great importance on extracurricular sports as part of our commitment to fostering an active and healthy lifestyle among our students. We believe that participation in sports not only promotes physical well-being but also builds essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
Our school is fortunate to have excellent sports facilities, including a floodlit, all-weather astroturf pitch, which allows for year-round training and matches. Our teams compete proudly in inter-school competitions in rugby, football, hockey, netball, and basketball, and we encourage all students, regardless of ability, to take part and represent the school.
In addition to team sports, we offer a wide variety of staff-led clubs both after school and during lunchtimes, catering to a range of interests. Students can participate in activities such as running, gymnastics, and even BMX riding, ensuring there is something for everyone.
For those who enjoy friendly competition closer to home, our Equipe sports competitions provide an excellent opportunity for students to mix with different year groups in a supportive and inclusive environment. These events foster camaraderie and school spirit while promoting healthy, friendly competition.
We are also proud to offer exciting opportunities for sports tours, both within the UK and abroad, giving students the chance to experience sports in different settings and cultures.
At Hockerill we are dedicated to ensuring that sport is accessible and enjoyable for all, helping students to stay active, build confidence, and create lasting memories.
