Hockerill Staff Honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal

Hockerill Staff Honoured with the King Charles III Coronation Medal

We are proud to announce that four members of staff—Captain Nicola Ashlee-McCrae, Lieutenant Alex Bennet Jones, SSI David Riley, and Flight Lieutenant Hugh Mascetti—have been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal.

This honour, created to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023, recognises exceptional service and commitment. Captain Ashlee-McCrae, Lieutenant Bennet Jones, SSI Riley, and Flight Lieutenant Mascetti were selected for their outstanding contributions to the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and their unwavering dedication to supporting the armed forces.

The Coronation Medal continues a tradition that dates back to 1603 when King James I awarded the first such honour. This year, 400,000 medals have been presented across the UK to serving military personnel, Armed Forces members, and frontline emergency service workers who have completed at least five full calendar years of service.

The medal’s design features a double portrait of Their Majesties on one side and the Royal Cypher, laurel wreath, and Coronation date on the reverse. The ribbon, with its red, blue, and white vertical stripes, reflects the colours of the Union Flag.

The entire Hockerill community is immensely proud of this well-deserved recognition and extends heartfelt congratulations to Captain Ashlee-McCrae, Lieutenant Bennet Jones, SSI Riley, and Flight Lieutenant Mascetti for their leadership, service, and positive impact on both students and the wider community.
